April Wazeka, MD

April's journey with mindfulness began during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst the pervasive stress and anxiety, she took her first mindfulness course, which was a transformative experience.
She delved deeper, completing several more mindfulness courses before enrolling in an intensive two-year mindfulness meditation teacher training program. Having experienced mindfulness's profound impact firsthand, she is now inspired to share its transformative power with others.
As a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, April combines personal insight with professional training to help students cultivate mindful awareness and navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and clarity.
Prior to becoming a mindfulness meditation teacher, April practiced for twenty years as a board-certified pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine physician.
She trained in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology at New York Presbyterian--Weill Cornell Medical Center, has an MD degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and a BA in Comparative Literature from Brown University.
